Tell the Truth Mr. President

― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” Commandment #8
Lying has become acceptable. Who can we believe?
A child who lies to his parents might get his mouth washed out with soap.
An employee who tells a lie to his employer might get fired.
A student who lies about a paper that he had someone else write might get expelled from school.
A significant other who has had sexual relationships outside of the marriage might get a divorce.
A guilty person who lies in testimony under oath might get jail time.
Why does the most important figure in the USA get away with at least 1,000 lies? Because he has money, power, position? How many lawyers does one need to prove that you are telling the truth?
The only place we can get facts are from newspapers. This news is “fake” according to the President.
The President is a first-rate bully. He can lie, and people are afraid to call him out on it.
How do we get the truth when so many people support the lies?
A president who lies to the people he governs should lose his job.
